Day 1 - Sydney to Bourke

The thrill of the Great Outback begins with a morning flight westwards to Bourke - a "true blue" country town on the banks of the Darling River.

Here well tour the township that serves the far-flung properties "Back o' Bourke", and visit an Outback museum to ready us for the days to come.

Overnight Accommodation: Darling River Motel, Bourke (L.D.)

Day 2 - Bourke to Birdsville

Your destination today is the scene of annual horse races, the remote town of Birdsville. The pub is located opposite the airstrip and the town also features one of the best museums of Australiana.

We stop for lunch Noccundra, located in South West Queensland. An airstrip and 100 year old outback pub - That's all!

Day 3 - Birdsville to Ayers Rock (via Alice Springs)

Nothing can prepare you for your first sight of Uluru - its majesty and mystery made even stronger by its cultural and spiritual significance to Aboriginal Australians.

An afternoon visit to the Olgas

In the evening visit Ayers Rock under the stars.

Day 4 - Ayers Rock to Alice Springs

This morning you will have the chance to climb Ayers Rock.

A short flight to the Red Centre township and an afternoon tour.

Visits are included to The Royal Flying Doctor Service base and School of the Air.

Day 5 - Alice Springs to Longreach

This outback town has an impressive history and is the home of the "Stockmans Half of Fame".

Visit the Qantas Founders Museum - where the airline started operations over 80 years ago.

Day 6 - Longreach to Hayman Island

From Longreach we head north-east over rural Queensland and the Great Divide to the jewelled magnificence of the Whitsunday Islands.

Touching down on Hamilton Island for lunch, we take time to enjoy the sights before our transfer by launch to beautiful Hayman Island.

Here we relax in the luxury of the Whitsundays' premier resort, surrounded by the sparkling brilliance of the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 7 - Hayman Island

A day in paradise - luxury, style and beautiful cuisine! Lie back and enjoy the sensation of just being here, or choose from the various optional day tours available.

You might choose a snorkel trip or a scuba diving expedition, or simply wander down from the resort to see the Reef at low tide.You might even choose a 'Seaplane Reef Adventure' over the surrounding tropical seas!

Day 8 - Hayman Island, Rockhampton and Sunshine Coast

Today we head back to Hamilton Island for a leisurely flight along the coast to Rockhampton (for lunch and a city highlights tour), and then an afternoon aircruise in unique DC-3 style to Maroochydore on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

There's no better way to see the magnificent Queensland coastline!

Day 9 - Sunshine Coast, Coffs Harbour and Sydney

A relaxed start, and then it's off on the last leg of our classic Australian journey. First stop is Coffs Harbour - where the mountains tumble down to the sea - famous for its banana plantations and fishing.

We'll enjoy lunch and a brief tour of the town before re-boarding for our final flight to Sydney.
